Selena Gomez – Life outside the limelight of Showbiz

The birth name of Selena Gomez is Selena Marie Teefey Gomez was born to Mandy Cornett and Ricardo Gomez on July 22, 1992. At the young age of Selena Gomez, she moved from New York to Grand Prairie, Texas. She went to Danny Jones Middle School located in Texas. She is named after Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla Perez.

Her mother Amanda Cornett is an Italian woman from Dallas, Texas and her father Ricardo Gomez is from New Mexico. Selena’s mother Amanda commonly known Mandy gave birth to Selena at the age of 16 years old, and her parents divorced in 1997. Closely 10 years later she remarried to Brian Teefy.

Selena is known to her big smile and her love for charity and philanthropy. And Selena is involved with the charity Raise Hope for Congo which helps raise awarenes about the violence against Congolese women and Selena participated in the ” Runaway for Life” benefit for St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital at the year 2008. Selena Gomez was named the youngest ambassador to UNICEF at age 17 (2009).

Selena being a teenager, she enjoys doing many of the same things other kids her age enjoy. She loves hanging out with her close friends, including  her best friend, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. She loves eating typical teen food and she loves eating chocolate, such as Snicker bars and Good and Plenty candy. She also enjoys her favorite food pizza with cheese, mushrooms, and jalapeno toppings. Like any teen, Selena admits to having crushes on stars, too. Her favorite actors are Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, and Shia LeBeouf. Her favorite bands are Paramore, Jonas Brothers, and Christina Aguilera.

If Selena had a spare time, She enjoys cheerleading, skateboarding, acting, surfing, singing, and dancing. She has said before that she got interested in acting because her mother was involved with local theater in Dallas. She got her start when attending an open casting call for the Barney show and after two years, her acting career took off. When she is at home with her mother and step-dad, she likes playing with her four dogs.

Selena Gomez began wearing a purity ring at the age of 12 years old, her purity ring says “True Love Waits”.

After Gomez and Lovato, whom she first met at the Barney and Friends auditions, posted a video blog on Youtube in March 2008, Miley Cyrus and her friend Mandy Jiroux uploaded a parody of that video, which caught the interest of entertainment media. Reports included the theory that Gomez and Lovato might replace Cyrus. Gomez clarified there was no feud, saying: “I’m not interested in being anybody but myself, and I’m not here to replace anyone. I think that she’s a wonderful performer, and of course it’s a compliment. But I would like to take a different route.”

In January 2011, Selena began recieving death threats via twitter from fans of Justin Bieber after pictures surfaced of the two kissing. Selena still remained shy about their relationship.
